Do You Enjoy The Outdoors?
We hope you have been able to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather we are having. While COVID has put restrictions on our lives, we are fortunate to live in an area where we can exercise outdoors. Exercise is important for keeping our bodies in shape and elevating our mood. It can also reduce the risk of some diseases and illness. In fact, it can protect against lung damage and lessen the effects of COVID-19. Read more to find out how exercise plays an important role in keeping us safe and healthy.
According to a review in the journal Redox Biology, one study shows that an antioxidant in our body, EcSOD, helps protect against heart and lung diseases. It may also protect against complications that occur as a result of COVID-19. The good news is that this enzyme is produced when we exercise. Now that’s motivation to get moving!
Whether you’re an avid outdoor enthusiast or enjoy a nice, easy walking trail, here is a list of some of my favorite spots to enjoy nature and break a sweat:
- You don’t need to travel far to enjoy Silverdale’s city parks with their trails and open spaces. They are a great way to take advantage of our beautiful area, and don’t forget to pack a picnic.
- If you’re more adventurous, the Stottlemeyer mountain biking and adventure trails will get your heart pumping.
- A little further north are the North Kitsap trails including the Kitsap Peninsula water trails. If you enjoy kayaking, you’ll find plenty of places to launch your kayak here.
Make sure to go online before visiting these places to check when they are open. Whichever type of exercise you choose, please be safe and take necessary precautions. Let us know how you’ve been staying active the next time we see you! Until then, have a great day.
