MEET YOUR DOCTOR

DR. RATTAN BAINS, DMD

Dr. Rattan Bains obtained her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University in 2004. She worked as a general dentist at Dental Care of Edmonds for 18 years and is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Washington State Dental Association. She received additional training through various continuing education programs for sleep dentistry and is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and a diplomat on the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.

While Dr. Bains still practices general dentistry part time, she is most excited about sleep dentistry. She has noticed that nearly 30% of her patients in her general dentistry practice grind their teeth and snore, continue to gain weight year after year, and have developed high blood pressure and other health issues. She became passionate about talking to her patients about the importance of better sleep quality and the effects of poor sleep on their overall health. This passion led her to partner with Dr. Tanya Kushner, an expert in the field, and together they plan to save lives one oral device at a time.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

In her leisure time, Dr. Bains loves being with her family. She and her husband, who is a sleep specialist at Virginia Mason, have 2 kids and a golden doodle. She loves the outdoors, hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, and traveling.

Looking for a CPAP alternative?

In this video, Dr. Bains, one of our dedicated sleep doctors, shares her favorite patient interaction. She sees patients all the time who have tried CPAP for sleep apnea and just can’t tolerate it. After they switch to an oral appliance, it changes their entire outlook. Patients are surprised at how well they sleep and how great they feel with an oral appliance. If you want an alternative to CPAP, request a consultation today.
