Imaging technology makes diagnosing and treating your issues faster and more comfortable for you. At Center for TMJ & Sleep Solutions NW, we rely on the latest technology to give you the best experience possible. When you visit us for an appointment, we use the following technology to give us the most accurate picture of all the anatomy involved in TMD:

Radiography

We take several different types of X-rays to visualize the bone structures in your head and neck, including panoramic, cephalogram, and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). With these images, we can see your teeth, your sinus cavity, your entire jaw, and the other parts of your facial anatomy important to your diagnosis. The detailed results will help us better determine which solutions to recommend based on your particular needs.

MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging provides detailed and accurate images of soft tissue and is considered the best way to study the TMJs. X-rays only show bone tissue. So, an MRI is needed to show how well the soft muscles and ligaments in your face and neck are working and where there may be a dysfunction. We will help you schedule this procedure at an imaging clinic.

Why We Use Imaging

We take a variety of images because TMD has so many causes, and it is vital that all of them are carefully scrutinized. Advanced imaging shows us everything we need to know about your teeth and bite, your facial and neck composition, your airway size, your TMJs, and more, so we can determine the best course of action to relieve your discomfort and pain.
